Head of Airworthiness (f/m)
in the area of Karlsruhe (DE)
Responsibilities:
- Define the applicable air worthiness guidance in close cooperation with technical experts and regulatory authorities, including type certification, licensing and operations
- Manage all international regulatory permits required to perform manned and unmanned flights
- Manage proactively the relationship with international air worthiness authorities
- Lead the process of creating an approved design and manufacturing organization (e.g. EASA DO/PO)
- Ensure air worthiness of the flight test fleet
- Setup and develop the air worthiness team, manage external team members
Requirements:
- MSc, PhD or equivalent degree in engineering (aerospace, mechatronics, electronics, physics or related field)
- A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in air worthiness activities and detailed knowledge of EASA/FAA airworthiness regulation for manned aircraft required, knowledge of airworthiness regulation for unmanned systems is a benefit, knowledge of relevant technical standards like DO-160, DO-178, DO-254, ARP4754A would be a plus
- Experience in working directly with air worthiness authorities beneficial
- Able to set up a team and efficient structures and processes
- Structured way of working, high sense of responsibility and reliability
- Good communicator, both in speaking and writing, team player, self-starter
- Very good English language skills (written & spoken), very good German language skills (written & spoken) is a benefit
